Repair and Smooth Nearly Any Surface
#4118 Marine Epoxy Fairing Compound is a smooth, creamy paste system for fairing surface imperfections on composites, wood, and primed metal parts, boasting excellent bonding during cure. This tough Epoxy Fairing Compound can be used to fill voids and provides a smooth transition in offset or stepped areas. It is also specially formulated for easy sanding and is moisture resistant, so the cured surface is blush-free and won't gum sandpaper during finishing.
This compound comes as a two-part kit and is mixed in an easy 1:1 ratio. Resin is off-white and hardener is gray, making it easy to ensure complete mixing. Once a complete mix is achieved, the creamy paste spreads easily onto damaged or rough areas to create a smooth, cosmetic surface.
#4118 Epoxy Compound cures to be slightly flexible, which helps to resist cracking under stress or vibration for thin layers. However, if necessary, it can applied up to 1-1/2 inches thick—special "wet" spreadable viscosity prevents nearly any sagging, even at elevated temperatures.
- Pot Life: 85-95 minutes
- Mix Ratio: 100:65 (by weight); 1:1 (approximate, by volume)
- Cures at room temperature—no heat required for full cure
- Allow 4–5 hours (only) between multiple layers (at 77F)
- Finish sand in 16–18 hours
- Lightly sand before applying primer/paint

Works well for filling deep depressions/waves. Difficult to hand mix thoroughly due to the high viscosity of product. Very sticky, so it is difficult to scrape the sides of the containers to use all the product. It would be better for the user if this product was packaged in a tub without a rim.Works very well!
The product mixes well and is easy to apply, Very easy to sand and shape and has good working time once mixed.
Using this blend in the sides to the floor on a boat. Also to fill in some irregularities on the transom. Mixes well and sticks great to vertical surfaces. Takes awhile to cure though, so keep that in mind.
Great stuff- extremely easy to mix, apply and sand even for an amateur. Appears to be extremely hard and durable when cured.
